Events Week 18 – 19th August
Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 19 August.
We are having a Quiz, hosted by Alan Mather Jnr, in the Club on Saturday 24 August at 7.30pm. Currently, there are only a few names on the list in the main hall of the Clubhouse. We need a few more teams involved. Please support this event by adding your names to this list.
On the bowling front, huge congratulations to Brian Sharp and Jim MacKay who won their Gents’ Championship semi-finals against George Richardson and Bob Page respectively. Both matches were very close and were thrilling right to the end. A credit to all four players. The Final will be held at 6.15pm on Friday 23 August. Please try to get along to the Club to support both players. All the best, guys.
We are hosting the Ladies’ Water of Leith Championships Finals on the green at 1.30pm on Friday 23 August. Our Triples (Pat Reid, Laura MacKay and Evelyn Lowe) will take on Colinton B.C. in their Final. Again, please try to get along to the Club to support the ladies in this very important match. Good luck, girls.
Our Ladies start their campaigns in the EWBA Championship games on Monday afternoon at 2.00pm. The Pairs (Faye Stevens and Chris Bentley) will play Blackhall B.C. at Balerno, the Triples (Vicky Page, Pat Clark and Joan Mitchell) have a match against Parkside B.C. at Coltbridge and the Fours (Jane Mitchell, Pat Reid, Marcia Norton and Evelyn Lowe) will take on Seafield B.C. at Maitland. If they are successful in these games, then on Wednesday afternoon at 2.00pm, the Pairs will have another match at Currie, the Triples will play at Whitehouse & Grange and the Fours will be in action at Willowbrae. Good luck, ladies.
We will be represented by our Fours (Les Brown, John Matear, Ricky Stevens and Clint Cassidy) in the EBA Seniors’ Knockout semi-finals on Friday 23 August at Slateford at Noon. The boys will take on Leith B.C. Stick in, guys.
