Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 18 May.
Our Bowls Scotland Seniors’ representatives in the Singles (Clint Cassidy and George Richardson) will both be in action on Monday afternoon with Clint taking on Balerno B.C. at Slateford and George against Carrickknowe B.C. at Gorgie Mills. In addition, our Bowls Scotland Senior Fours representatives will begin their campaign on Monday afternoon. Bobby Brown, Brian Sharp, Bernie Callaghan and David McNiven have a match against Carrickknowe B.C. at Balerno while Jim MacKay, Jim Connor, David Sutherland and Bill Cumming will take on Whitehouse & Grange B.C. at West End. All of these games start at 2.00pm. All the best, guys.

Most of our representatives in the Bowls Scotland District 15 competitions have games on Tuesday evening at 6.45pm. Our Singles representatives (Ricky Stevens and Stuart Campbell) have matches against Currie B.C. at Coltbridge and against Carrickknowe B.C. at Lutton Place respectively. At the same time, one of our Pairs representatives (Alan and Brian Sharp) will play Colinton B.C. at Craigmillar Park while the other (Iain Norton and Bob Page) compete against Sighthill B.C. at Carrickknowe. Finally, our Triples (Joe Blair, Bernie Callaghan and David McNiven) will be in action against West End B.C. at Ardmillan. Good luck, guys.
Then, on Thursday evening at 6.45pm, our representative in the EBA Ladies’ Aussie Pairs competition (Mo Crighton and Marcia Norton) will take on Northern B.C. at Gorgie Mills. At the same time, our Gents’ representative in the EBA Set Singles (Joe Blair) is in action against Bainfield B.C. at Whitehouse & Grange and our representatives in the EBA Aussie Pairs (Scott Bremner and Andy Lomax) have a match against Trinity B.C. at Pilrig. Stick in, guys and gals. We are also hosting 5 ties in the various EBA competitions on Thursday evening.
Then, on Saturday 23 May, our Ladies’ Bowls Scotland Pairs and Triples start their qualifying campaigns. The Pairs (Faye Stevens and Michele Koeune) have a match against Whitehouse & Grange B.C. at Juniper Green at 2.00pm and, if successful, will be in action on the Sunday at Juniper Green at 10.30am. Our Triples (Mo Crighton, Pat Clark and Joan Mitchell) compete against Currie B.C. at Whitehouse & Grange at 11.00am and, if successful, will take on Coltbridge B.C. on the Sunday at Whitehouse & Grange at 11.00am. Good luck, ladies.
One of our representatives in the Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs (Gladys Christie and Bernie Callaghan) will be in action on Sunday 24 May with a match at Sighthill against Gorgie Mills B.C. at 6.30pm. At the same time, hopefully our other team (Pat Clark and Jim Connor) will also compete at Carrickknowe. All the best, gals and guys. We are also hosting two Mixed Pairs ties on the green on Sunday evening.

Finally, a wee ‘heads-up’ on some upcoming events :
1. The Senior Gents have their annual Bob Horsham Trophy game at 2.00pm on Friday 12 June. This is a one-day competition (like a Hat Day with the format to be determined by the number of entrants) open to all members of the Gents’ Senior Section. Please add your name to the list on the Seniors’ Notice-board if you are able to play.

2. On Friday 19 June, we are holding the Ladies’ Page Two-Bowl Pairs starting at 1.00pm. There is a list on the Ladies’ Noticeboard for those members wishing to participate in this very enjoyable competition.

3. The annual Gents’ Friendly against Carrickknowe B.C. will be held at home on Saturday 20 June starting at 2.00pm. There is a list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for those members who wish to play in this very enjoyable day. We are looking for 5 rinks for this match.

Dear members,

Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 11 May.

Two of the Gents’ EBA league matches this week have been re-arranged with the First XVI in action against Leith B.C. away and the Second XVI taking on Queensberry B.C. at home on Monday at 6.30pm. The Third Team game against Seafield B.C. remains on Wednesday evening at home at 6.30pm. Please check the Gents’ Noticeboard for rinks involved.

As a result of this re-arrangement, the weekly Hat Night has been cancelled this Monday.
Our Ladies’ Senior Singles representatives (Gladys Christie and Chis Bentley) and Senior Fours ‘A’ (Mo Crighton, Cathy Souza, Michele Koeune and Joan Mitchell) and Senior Fours ‘B’ (Jane Mitchell, Val Mather, Pat Clark and Marcia Norton) all kick off their Bowls Scotland campaigns next weekend.

On Saturday 16 May, Gladys and Chris have matches against Carrickknowe B.C. and Parkside B.C. respectively at 10.30am at Currie and, if successful, they will each have another game at Currie in the afternoon at 2.00pm.

Also on Saturday 16 May, our Senior Fours ‘A’ will take on Juniper Green B.C. at Coltbridge at 10.30am while our Senior Fours ‘B’ are in action against Bainfield B.C. ‘B’ at Coltbridge at 2.00pm. If successful, they will each have another game at Coltbridge on the Sunday at 10.30am. Good luck to all the ladies involved.

On Sunday 17 May, one of our Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs teams (Pat and Ronnie Clark) will start their journey with a match against Mayfield B.C. at Juniper Green at 6.30pm. All the best, Pat and Ronnie.

Please note that the closing date for entry into this season’s Pairs (Blyth, Club and Birnie), Davis Triples and Walker Fours competitions is Monday 11 May. So, there is still time to add your names to the lists on the Mixed and Gents’ Noticeboards. We would also encourage those members who have their names on the ‘Help Sheets’ on the Gents’ and Mixed Noticeboards to approach others on the Sheets to form teams for these competitions.

Finally, the first Gents’ Friendly of the season away to Gala Abbotsford B.C. is scheduled for Saturday 16 May at 2.00pm. We are sure that everyone involved will have a wonderful afternoon.

  • April 19, 2026April 19, 2026

Dear Members,

Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 20 April.
While it is only the first week of the season, there are a few things happening but the number of events will grow as the season progresses. There will be an e-mail each week with the forthcoming events. We hope that you continue to find it useful. A copy will be posted on the ‘Events Board’ in the Clubhouse and on the website.

Our Ladies have their first Water of Leith League match away to Sighthill B.C. on Wednesday 22 April at 2.15pm. Good luck, girls.

There will be a ‘practice’ match on Wednesday 22 April at 6.15pm for all players involved in the Gents’ Edinburgh Bowling Association teams. Please check the Notice-board in the locker-room and, if selected but unavailable to play, let David Sutherland know. Please note that dress for this event will be ‘smart, casual’ – no need for Club dress.
The Gents will have their annual Bowling Day at 2.00pm on Saturday 25 April. There is a list on the Gents’ Notice-board for those wishing to play. Please add your name to this list as this will help with the organization of the bowling. Again, please note that dress for this event will be ‘smart, casual’.

Lists for entry to the Birnie Mixed Pairs and the Club Pairs competitions are now on the ‘Mixed’ Notice-board while those for entry to the Blyth Pairs, the Davis Triples and the Walker Fours are on the Gents’ Notice-board. These have to be completed by Monday 11 May.

Finally, there is a list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for members wishing to play in the annual Friendly away to Gala Abbotsford B.C. on Saturday 16 May at 2.00pm. Please add your name if you are able to be involved.
We wish you all an enjoyable and successful bowling season.

The Management Committee.
