Dear Members,

 

Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 31 August.
 

Firstly, huge congratulations to Stuart Campbell who won the Gents’ Championship Final last Wednesday evening against Frank Ross in a very entertaining match. Well done, Stuart and, hard lines, Frank.

 

Then, on Saturday afternoon at Braid, our EWBA Pairs representatives (Faye Stevens and Joan Mitchell) beat Merchiston B.C. in their Final.  Congratulations, ladies. A great achievement.

 

Congratulations to our Ladies’ Water of Leith Triples (Faye Stevens, Laura MacKay and Evelyn Lowe) who won their Final against Colinton B.C. at Sighthill last Friday. Well done, girls.

 

Finally, congratulations to George Richardson who won in the Final of the Over 55 Gents’ EBA Knockout Singles yesterday (Saturday) at Slateford against an opponent from Parkside B.C.  And yet more congratulations to our Over 55 Gents’ Triples (Les Brown, Brian Sharp and Bernie Callaghan) who beat Summerside B.C. in their Final of the EBA Knockouts also on Saturday at Slateford.  Well done, guys.

 

Overall, a very successful weekend for the Club!!

 

Please note that the draw for this season’s Murdoch Trophy is now on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard. This draw involves the finalists of 8 qualifying competitions over the year. Please check the Noticeboard for the closing dates for each round. The date for the first round matches is Friday 4th September.

 

A gentle reminder for both our Senior Gents’ RMBA teams.  With both teams qualifying for the Knockouts semi-finals, please note that these matches (away to Postal B.C. and at home to Brunstane B.C.) will take place at 1.30pm on Monday 7 September.

 

We will be represented in the Senior Gents’ North & West Knockout Finals by our Fours (Tom Wallace, Neil Gowans, Les Brown and David McNiven) who will take on a rink from Queensberry B.C. at Queensberry on Tuesday afternoon at 1.45pm.  All the best, guys. 

 

Our Ladies have their annual Friendly at home to Blackhall B.C. on Tuesday afternoon at 2.00pm. We are sure that everyone involved will have a great time.

 

At the time of writing, we have seven Finals scheduled for this week.

 

On Wednesday 2 September at 2.00pm, the Final of the Ladies’ Nominated Pairs involving Faye Stevens and Michele Koeune against Pat Reid and Marcia Norton will be held.

 

The Final of the Senior Ladies’ Championship between Michele Koeune and Marcia Norton will take place at 3.30pm on Friday 4 September.

 

Then, on Saturday 5 September at 2.00pm, 

 

Ally Gibson and Bernie Callaghan will compete in the President’s Final

Ronnie McCall will be in action against Allan Black in the Vice-President’s Final

Faye Stevens and Clint Cassidy will take on Kath Brown and Billy Samuel in the Birnie Mixed Pairs Final

John Donoghue and Scott Jackson have a match against Alan and Brian Sharp in the Final of the Gents’ Blyth Pairs 

 

Lastly, on Sunday 6 September at 2.00pm, the Ladies’ Two Bowl Final between Ann Barr and Jane Mitchell will take place.

Finally, a wee heads-up for some upcoming events :

1. On Wednesday 9 September, the annual Ladies v Senior Gents for the Carruth Trophy is scheduled at 2.00pm. The teams will be on the respective Noticeboards before the match.
 

2. The annual Senior Gents’ Friendly away to Carrickknowe B.C. is scheduled for 2.00pm on Friday 11 September. Please add your names to the list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you can participate in this excellent afternoon.

 

3. Our Ladies have their annual Friendly at home to Carrickknowe B.C. on Friday 18 September at 2.00pm. The teams for this match will be posted on the Ladies’ Noticeboard.
