Events week 14 – 20th July
Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 20 July.
Firstly, the Ladies’ Championship Final between Marcia Norton and Joan Mitchell will take place at 2.00pm on Saturday 25 July. Please try to get along to the Club to support both players in this very important match. All the best, ladies.
Our Ladies’ Top Ten team will take on London Road Foundry B.C. away at 12.30pm on Monday 20 July in the semi-final of the competition. Again, please try to get along to London Road on Monday afternoon to support the ladies in this game. Good luck, girls.
The EBA Knockouts continue this week. Our Ladies’ Singles (Chris Bentley) has a match against Northern B.C. at London Road while the Pairs (Cathy Souza and Michele Koeune) take on Whitehouse & Grange B.C. at Maitland. Our Triples (Mo Crighton, Pat Clark and Joan Mitchell) will compete against Seafield B.C. at Merchiston and the Fours (Val Mather, Jane Mitchell, Vicky Page and Marcia Norton) have a game against Tanfield B.C. at Northern. All of these ties are at 6.30pm on Thursday 23 July. Good luck, girls. At the same time, we are hosting 4 ties in these competitions on the green.
Also on Thursday evening, our representatives in the Gents’ EBA Knockouts Fours (Ronnie Clark, Charlie Sweeney, Tony McBride and Tom Mitchell) kick off their campaign with a match against Colinton B.C. at Gorgie Mills at 6.30pm. All the best, guys.
Then, on Friday, our Senior Gents’ representatives have EBA Knockout matches. The Singles (George Richardson) will take on Liberton B.C. at Summerside and our Pairs (Frank Ross and Bill Cumming) have a match against Maitland B.C. at Blackhall. Our Triples (Les Brown, David McNiven and Bernie Callaghan) compete against Dean B.C. at Mayfield and the Fours (Bobby Brown, Gordon Munro, Iain Norton and Brian Sharp) have a game against Northern B.C. at Brunstane. All of these games start at 1.30pm. Stick in, guys. At the same time, we are hosting 4 ties in these competitions on our green.
Finally, a wee heads-up for some upcoming events in August :
1 The Club has its annual Invitation Pairs competition on Sunday 2 August. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those members (and their partners from other Clubs) who wish to play in this event. Please note that there will be an entry fee of £10 per pair for this competition.
2 Our Senior Gents have their annual Hyland Rigg competition on Friday 7 August starting at 2.00pm. There is still time to add your name to the list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you wish to participate.
3 The Gents will have their annual Friendly away to Blackhall B.C. on Wednesday 12 August at 6.15pm. There is a list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for those gents wishing to play in this match.
4 The annual Cathy Connet Trophy competition will be held on Saturday 15 August at 2.00pm. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those members who wish to be involved.
5 Our Ladies have their annual Clark Fours competition on the green on Sunday 16 August starting at 1.30pm. There is a list on the Ladies’ Noticeboard if you wish to play in this event.
6 The annual Ladies vs Gents match will be held on Sunday 23 August at 2.00pm. There are lists on both the Ladies’ and Gents’ Noticeboards for those who would like to play in this very enjoyable afternoon.
