Events Week 14 – 22nd July

Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 22 July.
The Ladies’ Championship Final between Theresa Blair and Chris Bentley will take place at around 4.00pm on Friday 26 July. Please try to get along to the Club to support both players in this very important match. All the best, ladies.
After a tremendous win against Queensberry B.C. last Tuesday, our Gents’ Top Ten team will take on Summerside B.C. away at 6.30pm on Tuesday 23 July in the quarter-final of the competition. Stick in, guys.
Please note that out Ladies’ last Water of Leith League match will take place on Wednesday 24 July at home to Currie B.C. This was included in our Fixture Booklet in error as Wednesday 31 July. Apologies for any misunderstanding this may have caused.
The EBA Knockouts continue this week. Our Ladies’ Singles (Faye Stevens) has a match against Currie B.C. at Dean while the Pairs (Pat Clark and Joan Mitchell) take on Willowbrae B.C. at Whitehouse & Grange. The Triples (Jane Mitchell, Kathryn Brown and Marcia Norton) have a game against Sighthill B.C. at Goldenacre and the Fours (Val Mather, Cathy Souza, Laura MacKay and Evelyn Lowe) compete against Bainfield B.C. at Coltbridge. All of these ties are at 6.45pm on Thursday 25 July. Good luck, girls.
Also on Thursday evening, our sole remaining representative in the Gents’ EBA Knockouts (George Richardson) has a singles game against Pilrig B.C. at Northern at 6.45pm. All the best, George. At the same time, we are hosting 5 Gents’ Knockout ties on the green.
Then, on Friday, our Senior Gents’ representatives have Knockout matches. Our Pairs (Charlie Sweeney and Tom Mitchell) take on London Road Foundry B.C. at Blackhall and our Triples (George Richardson, Bill Cumming and Bernie Callaghan) compete against Goldenacre B.C. at Balerno. Both of these game start at Noon. Stick in, guys. At the same time, we are hosting 4 Senior Knockout ties on the green.
The North & West Knockouts also continue this week. Our Fours (Angus McGarry, Peter Anderson, Sandy Powell and Les Brown) have a semi-final tie against Queensberry B.C. on Thursday at home at 2.00pm. Our Triples (John Cowe, David McGuire and Brian Howe) will take on Blackhall B.C. at home on Friday 26 July at 2.00pm in their semi-final. All the best, boys.
The National Championships start at Ayr, Northfield on Saturday 27 July.
Finally, a wee heads-up for some upcoming events in August :
1 Our annual Friendly against the Centurion B.C. will be held on the green at 6.30pm on Thursday 1 August. We are still looking for a few names to take part. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those who wish to participate.
2 The Club has its annual Invitation Pairs competition on Sunday 4 August. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those members (and their partners from other Clubs) who wish to play in this event. Please note that there will be an entry fee of £10 per pair for this competition.
3 Our Senior Gents have their annual Hyland Rigg competition on Friday 9 August starting at 2.00pm. There is still time to add your name to the list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you wish to participate.
4 Our Ladies have their annual Clark Fours competition on the green on Sunday 11 August starting at 1.30pm. There is a list on the Ladies’ Noticeboard if you wish to play in this event.
5 The annual Cathy Connet Trophy competition will be held on Saturday 17 August at 2.00pm. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those members who wish to be involved.
6 The annual Ladies vs Gents match will be held on Sunday 25 August at 2.00pm. There are lists on both the Ladies’ and Gents’ Noticeboards for those who would like to play in this very enjoyable afternoon.
7 The Gents will have their annual Friendly away to Blackhall B.C. on Tuesday 27 August at 6.15pm. There is a list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for those gents wishing to play in this match.
