Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 19 June.
Firstly, huge congratulations to Stuart Campbell who won the Bowls Scotland Gents’ Singles District Final in a thrilling match against Parkside B.C. at Sighthill on Friday night. Stuart will now play in the National Championships at Ayr in July. Excellent work, Stuart.
Also, huge congratulations to Faye Stevens who played very well to beat Carrickknowe B.C. in the Final of the Bowls Scotland Senior Ladies’ Singles on our green on Saturday morning to qualify for the National Championships at Ayr in July. Well done, Faye.
And finally, huge congratulations to Chris Bentley who won the Bowls Scotland Ladies’ District Final against Currie B.C. on our green on Saturday afternoon. Chris is also off to Ayr in July for the National Championships. Good job, Chris.
What a wonderful weekend for the Club!!
On Tuesday 20 June, our Ladies’ Four (Evelyn Lowe, Ronnie McLaren, Marcia Norton and Joan Mitchell) take on Juniper Green B.C. in the East of Scotland District Final at Juniper Green at 2.00pm. All the best, ladies. Please try to get along to Juniper Green to support the girls if you can.
Then, on Tuesday evening, we are hosting the Ladies’ Bowls Scotland Junior Singles Final at 6.30pm. This match involves two girls from Sighthill B.C. who are among the best young bowlers in Edinburgh and will be a cracking game. Please try to get along to the Club on Tuesday to see this match if you are able.
The Ladies’ Captain’s Charity Pairs will be held on the green on Saturday 24 June starting at 10.00am. We are sure everyone involved will have a wonderful day and lots of money will be raised for this year’s Charity (Alzheimer’s Scotland).
Also on Saturday, we have the annual Gents’ Friendly away to Carrickknowe B.C. at 2.00pm. There is still time to add your names to the list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for those participating. We are still looking for 4 players. This always a great day and satisfaction is guaranteed!!!
On Sunday 25 June, our representatives in the EBA Mixed Rink competition (Chris Bentley, Ronnie Clark, Pat Clark and Bill Cumming) begin their campaign with a match against Goldenacre B.C. at Maitland at 6.00pm. Stick in, guys and gals.
