Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 15 May.
Our Ladies continue their East of Scotland campaigns this week. In the Singles, Chris Bentley has a match against Braid B.C. at Bainfield at 2.00pm on Tuesday and, at the same time, the Fours (Faye Stevens, Ronnie McLaren, Marcia Norton and Joan Mitchell) will take on Colinton B.C. at Sighthill. Then, on Thursday afternoon, our Pairs (Val Mather and Joan McBain) compete against Balerno B.C. at Juniper Green and our Triples (Pat Reid, Pat Clark and Theresa Blair) will take on Sighthill B.C. at Colinton. All the best, ladies. In addition, we are hosting a Pairs and a Triples tie on the green on Thursday afternoon.
On Thursday 18 May, our EBA representatives in the Set Singles (George Richardson and Dougie Wilson) have their first matches in this competition. George will take on Sighthill B.C. at Braid while Dougie has a game against Jessfield B.C. at Colinton. In the Australian Pairs competition, one of our teams (Les Brown and Kenny Orr) has a match against Jessfield B.C. at Craigentinny. All of these games start at 6.45pm. Stick in, guys. In addition, we are hosting 3 ties in these competitions on our green on Thursday evening.
Our Ladies’ Pairs representatives (Pat Reid and Marcia Norton) and Triples (Faye Stevens, Gladys Christie and Moyra Ferrier) all kick off their Bowls Scotland campaigns next weekend. On Saturday 20 May, Pat and Marcia have a match against Bainfield B.C. at 10.00am at Bainfield and, if successful, they will potentially have another two games at Bainfield on Sunday at 10.00am and 2.00 pm. The Triples will compete against Colinton B.C. at 1.00pm on Sunday 21 May at Liberton. Good luck, ladies.
On Sunday 21 May, our Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs teams are in action in the evening. Joan Mitchell and Bernie Callaghan take on Bainfield B.C. at Whitehouse and Grange while Faye Stevens and Clint Cassidy compete against Merchiston B.C. at Beechwood. Both of these matches start at 6.30pm. All the best, guys and gals. In addition, we are hosting two ties on our green in this competition.
Finally, the first Gents’ Friendly of the season against Gala Abbotsford B.C. is scheduled for Saturday 20 May at 2.00pm at home. There is still time to add your name to the list on the Noticeboard if you wish to play. We are still looking for 2 players. We are sure that everyone involved will have a wonderful afternoon.
