Events week 13 – 17th July
Dear Members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 17 July.
The National Championships will begin at Ayr, Northfield on Sunday 23 July.
Our representative in the Senior Ladies’ Singles (Faye Stevens) will take on Bankfoot B.C. on Sunday at 5.00pm. If successful, Faye will have potentially another two matches on Monday 24 July and another two on the Tuesday. All the best, Faye.
Chris Bentley, our representative in the Ladies’ Singles, has her first match against Gilmerton B.C. on Tuesday 25 July at 11.30am. If successful, Chris will potentially play games on each day thereafter through to the Final on Saturday 29 July. Good luck, Chris.
Our representative in the Gents’ Singles, Stuart Campbell, will also be in action on Tuesday 25 July at 11.30am against Sanquhar B.C. If successful, Stuart will potentially play each day through to the Final on Saturday 29 July. Stick in, Stuart.
Our Senior Gents’ North & West Pairs (Les Brown and Alex Fisher) have a match away to Trinity B.C. in the semi-final of their competition on Monday 17 July at 1.45pm. Good luck, guys.
After a good win over Currie B.C. last Tuesday, our Gents’ Top Ten will take on Colinton B.C. away on Tuesday 18 July at 6.30pm. All the best, guys.
Our Ladies kick off their EBA Knockout campaigns on Thursday evening with the Singles (Chris Bentley) taking on Merchiston B.C. at Hillside at 6.45pm. Good luck, Chris.
Our Gents’ representatives also continue their EBA Knockout campaigns on Thursday evening. The Singles (Stuart Campbell) will take on Currie B.C. at Trinity, the Pairs (Keith Bennett and Dougie Wilson) compete against Summerside B.C. at West End, the Triples (Joe Blair, Bernie Callaghan and David McNiven) will be in action against Summerside B.C. at Postal and the Fours (John MacPhail, John Matear, Bill Cumming and Gordon Birnie) have a match against Leith B.C. also at Postal. All of these ties start at 6.45pm. All the best, guys.
Our Senior Gents’ Triples (Bobby Brown, Tony McBride and Tom Mitchell) will compete against Tanfield B.C. at Ardmillan at 2.00pm on Friday 21 July in the EBA Knockouts. Stick in, guys. At the same time, we are hosting two Senior Gents’ EBA Knockout ties on the green.
Finally, a wee heads-up for some upcoming events :
1. The annual Friendly against Centurion B.C. is scheduled on the green for 6.30pm on Thursday 27 July. There is still time to add your name to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for this match. We are looking for 3 mixed rinks and currently only have 9 names on the list.
2. The Club has its annual Invitation Pairs competition on Sunday 6 August. There is a list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard for those members (and their partners from other Clubs) who wish to play in this event. Please note that there will be an entry fee of £10 per pair for this competition.
3. We are hosting the Ladies’ Top Ten Final at CBC on Monday 7 August at 2.00pm. Please try to get along to the Club to see some very good lady bowlers in action.
4. Our Senior Gents have their annual Hyland Rigg competition on Friday 11 August starting at 2.00pm. There is still time to add your name to the list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you wish to participate.
5. Our Ladies have their annual Clark Fours competition on the green on Sunday 13 August starting at 1.30pm. There is a list on the Ladies’ Noticeboard if you wish to participate in this event.
6. The Gents will have their annual Friendly at home to Blackhall B.C. on Wednesday 16 August at 6.15pm. There is a list on the Gents’ Noticeboard for those gents wishing to play in this match.
