  • July 20, 2025July 20, 2025

Dear Members,

Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 21 July.

The Ladies’ Championship Final between Evelyn Lowe and Chris Bentley will take place at 11.00am on Friday 25 July. Please try to get along to the Club to support both players in this very important match. All the best, ladies.

Our Ladies’ Top Ten team will take on Liberton B.C. at home at 2.00pm on Monday 21 July in the semi-final of the competition. Again, please try to get along to the Club on Monday afternoon to support the ladies in this game. Good luck, girls.

The EBA Knockouts continue this week. Our Ladies’ Singles (Evelyn Lowe) has a match against Queensberry B.C. at Bainfield while the Pairs (Val Mather and Marcia Norton) take on Maitland B.C. also at Bainfield and our Triples (Mo Crighton, Pat Clark and Joan Mitchell) will compete against Portobello B.C. at Whitehouse & Grange. All of these ties are at 6.45pm on Thursday 24 July. Good luck, girls. At the same time, we are hosting 4 ties in these competitions on the green.

Also on Thursday evening, our remaining representatives in the Gents’ EBA Knockouts kick off their campaigns. Our Singles (Joe Blair) has a game against London Road Foundry B.C. at Trinity while our Pairs (Scott Jackson and Keith Bennett) will take on Currie B.C. at Liberton and the Fours (Ricky Stevens, Jim MacKay, David McNiven and George Richardson) will compete against Willowbrae B.C. at Summerside. All of these ties start at 6.45pm. All the best, guys.

Then, on Friday, our Senior Gents’ representatives have EBA Knockout matches. The Singles (Jim MacKay) will take on Braid B.C. at Ardmillan and our Pairs (Les Brown and Ricky Stevens) have a match against Seafield B.C. at Liberton. Our Triples (Bobby Brown, Bill Cumming and Bernie Callaghan) compete against Mayfield B.C. at Dean and the Fours (Jim Connor, Gordon Munro, David Sutherland and David McNiven) have a game against Pilrig B.C. at Brunstane. All of these game start at 1.30pm. Stick in, guys.

The CBC Open Singles (aka the Bowls & Barbeque) will take place on the green on Saturday 26 July starting at 10.00am. This is always a very enjoyable day and is organised and run by Scott Mitchell.

The National Championships start at Ayr, Northfield on Saturday 26 July. As intimated previously, we will be represented in the Gents’ Singles by Stuart Campbell and his first game will be at 11.30am on Thursday 31 July with a match against an opponent from Thornhill B.C. If successful, Stuart will have potentially two games on the Friday and two on the Saturday. All the best, Stuart. Please try to get to Ayr to support him, if you can.
