Events Week 6th September
Dear members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 6 September.
Firstly, huge commiserations to George Richardson who lost the Final of the Senior Gents’ EBA Knockout Singles against Mayfield B.C. at Brunstane last Friday afternoon. Hard lines, George. But a wonderful achievement in getting to the Final.
Congratulations are in order for several members :
1. To Pat Calder and Chris Bentley who won the Ladies’ 2-Bowl Pairs defeating Val Mather and Margaret Thomson in the Final last Monday.
2. To Jim MacKay who beat Joe Blair in the Final of the President’s last Wednesday.
3. To Tom Wallace who won the Final of the Vice President’s against Bob Savage also last Wednesday evening.
4. To Joan Mitchell who defeated Theresa Blair in the Final of the Ladies’ Isobel Callaghan Rosebowl on Thursday morning
5. To Pat Reid and Marcia Norton who won the Ladies Nominated Pairs on Sunday, beating Gladys Christie and Chris Bentley.
Well done to the winners and commiserations to the losers.
There are another three internal competition Final scheduled this week. On Monday afternoon, Jimmy Sutherland and Sandy Lyon compete in the Final of the Senior Gents’ Two-Bowl. On Wednesday afternoon The Walker Fours final between Willie Aitken and George Richardson is played. Then, on Thursday morning, the Senior Ladies’ Championship Final between Chris Bentley and Faye Stevens will take place. All the best to everyone involved. Please try to get along to the Club to support the players in these matches.
On Thursday afternoon, the RMBA Top Ten competition continues with our ‘A’ team involved in the semi-final away to Mayfield B.C. Stick in, chaps.
On Friday afternoon, the annual Senior Gents’ Friendly against Carrickknowe B.C. will take place on the green. We are sure that everyone involved will have a wonderful day.
Then, on Saturday afternoon, the re-arranged Cathy Connet Trophy competition is scheduled. There is still time to add your name to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard if you want to participate in this highly-enjoyable day.
Finally, a wee reminder of a few upcoming internal competitions/matches.
The annual Ladies vs Senior Gents match is scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday 15 September. There are separate lists on the Ladies’ and Senior Gents’ Noticeboards if you want to be involved in this game.
The annual Hyland Rigg competition for our Senior Gents has been rearranged for the afternoon of Friday 17 September. Please add your name to the new list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you can participate on this new date.
Then, on Sunday 19 September, we will have the annual ‘RugBowl’ match involving our members and members of Corstorphine Rugby Club. This is invariably a very entertaining and social afternoon. Please add your names to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard if you want to participate in this match.
