Events week 30th August
Dear members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 30 August.
Firstly, congratulations are in order for several members :
1. To Dave McGuire and Pat Reid who defeated Joan McBain and Ronnie Clark in the Birnie Mixed Pairs Final last Monday.
2. To Jean Meiklejohn who won the Ladies’ Two-Bowl Final against Theresa Blair last Tuesday.
3. To Ricky Stevens who beat Alex Fisher in the Gents’ Senior Championship Final on Wednesday morning.
4. To Willie Stoddart, Dougie Wilson and George Richardson who won the Gents’ Davis Triples against Ronnie Clark, Mark Hewitt and Clint Cassidy.
5. To Peter Anderson and John Matear who defeated Bob Leslie and Jim MacKay in the Club Pairs Final.
6. To Joe Blair and David McNiven who won the Gents’ Blyth Pairs against Alex Fisher and Jimmy Sutherland.
Well done to the winners and commiserations to the losers.
In addition, congratulations to our Ladies’ Heather League team who won the competition this year. Well done, girls.
There are another three internal competition Finals scheduled this week. On Wednesday evening, the President’s Final between Joe Blair and Jim MacKay will take place as well as the Vice-President’s Final where Bob Savage will take on Tom Wallace. Then, on Thursday morning, the Ladies’ Isobel Callaghan Rosebowl Final between Joan Mitchell and Theresa Blair will take place. All the best to everyone involved. Please try to get along to the Club to support the players in these matches.
On Monday afternoon, our Ladies have their annual Page Two-Bowl Pairs competition. We are sure that everyone involved will have a great afternoon.
On Tuesday afternoon, our North & West Seniors’ teams have their final League matches of the season with the ‘A’ team at home to Willowbrae B.C. and the ‘B’ team away to Hillside B.C. Good luck, guys.
On Thursday afternoon, the RMBA Knockouts competition continues with our ‘B’ team involved in the semi-final at home to Craigentinny B.C. Stick in, chaps.
On Friday afternoon, the Gents’ EBA Seniors’ Knockouts Finals are scheduled with our Singles representative (George Richardson) taking on Mayfield B.C. at Brunstane. All the best, George. Please try to get along to Brunstane to support George in the Final.
Finally, a wee reminder of a few upcoming internal competitions/matches.
Our Senior Gents have their annual Friendly against Carrickknowe B.C. on Friday 10 September at home. There is a list on the Seniors’ Noticeboard if you want to participate in this highly enjoyable afternoon.
The Cathy Connet Trophy competition has been re-arranged for the afternoon of Saturday 11 September. There is a new list on the Mixed Noticeboard if you are available to play on the revised date.
The annual Ladies vs Senior Gents match is scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday 15 September. There are separate lists on the Ladies’ and Senior Gents’ Noticeboards if you want to be involved in this game.
The annual Hyland Rigg competition for our Senior Gents has been rearranged for the afternoon of Friday 17 September. Please add your name to the new list on the Senior Gents’ Noticeboard if you can participate on this new date.
Then, on Sunday 19 September, we will have the annual ‘RugBowl’ match involving our members and members of Corstorphine Rugby Club. This is invariably a very entertaining and social afternoon. Please add your names to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard if you want to participate in this match.
