Events Week 2nd August
Dear members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 2 August.
Firstly, huge congratulations to Jim MacKay who beat Scott Mitchell in the Final of the Gents’ Championship on Sunday afternoon. It was a thrilling match and a credit to both players. As a result, Jim will play the Champion of Lutton Place B.C. at Seafield in the first round of the EBA Tait Trophy on Friday evening. All the best, Jim. Please try to get to Seafield to support Jim if you can.
Then, on Thursday morning, the second semi-final of the Ladies’ Championship between Jean Meiklejohn and Joan Mitchell will take place. Good luck to both ladies. Please try to get along to the Club to support the players.
On Monday afternoon, our Ladies have a Heather League match against Blackhall B.C. with one rink at home and one rink away. All the best, ladies.
On Tuesday afternoon, our North & West Seniors’ teams have league matches with the ‘A’ team away to Tanfield B.C. and the ‘B’ team at home to Queensberry B.C. Good luck, guys.
On Thursday afternoon, the RMBA Knockout competition begins with our ‘A’ team in action away to Postal B.C. All the best, chaps.
On Thursday evening, the Gents’ EBA Knockout competitions continue with our Fours in action against Craigentinny B.C. at Seafield. All the best, lads. In addition, we are hosting 4 ties in the Gents’ EBA Knockouts on our green on Thursday evening.
Also, on Thursday evening, in the EBA Ladies’ Knockouts our Singles will take on Carrickknowe B.C. at Willowbrae while the Pairs are in action also against Carrickknowe B.C. at Jessfield. In the same competition, our Triples will take on West End B.C. at Willowbrae and the Fours are scheduled to be in action against Jessfield B.C. at Parkside. Good luck, girls.
On Friday afternoon, the Gents’ Seniors have their annual Hyland Rigg Trophy competition on the green. We are sure that everyone involved will have a wonderful day.
Also on Friday afternoon, the Gents’ EBA Seniors’ Knockouts competitions kick off with our Singles representative taking on Leith B.C. at Currie while our Pairs are in action against Seafield B.C. at Ardmillan. In the same competition, our Triples take on Brunstane B.C. also at Ardmillan and our Fours are in action against Hillside B.C. at Jessfield. All the best, guys.
On Friday evening, we are hosting 4 Tait Trophy ties on our green. Please try to get along to the Club to see some of the best bowlers in Edinburgh in action (if you cannot attend Seafield to support Scott/Jim).
Our Ladies have their annual Clark Fours competition on the green on Sunday afternoon. We are certain that all those participating will have a great day.
Finally, the annual Cathy Connet competition will be held at 2.00pm on Saturday 21 August. Please add your name to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard if you want to take part in this very enjoyable afternoon.
