Events Week 9th August
Dear members,
Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginningMonday 9 August.
Firstly, congratulations to Jim MacKay who won his first round match in the EBA Tait Trophy (Champion of Champions) last Friday evening at Seafield. Well done, Jim. He will now play the champion of Goldenacre B.C. at Brunstane on Monday evening. And, if successful, will play in the quarter-final at Northern next Friday evening. Stick in, Jim.
On Monday afternoon, our Ladies have a rearranged EWBA Triples League match against Carrickknowe B.C. with one rink at home and one rink away. All the best, ladies.
On Monday evening, we have two Tait Trophy ties rearranged from last Friday on the green.
On Tuesday afternoon, our North & West Seniors’ teams have league matches with the ‘A’ team away to Dean B.C. and the ‘B’ team at home to Tanfield B.C. Good luck, guys.
On Thursday afternoon, the RMBA Top Ten competition begins with our ‘A’ team in action at home to Liberton B.C. and the ‘B’ team away to Seafield B.C. Stick in, chaps.
On Thursday evening, in the EBA Ladies’ Knockouts, our Singles will take on Tanfield B.C. at Slateford while our Pairs will take on Portobello B.C. at Goldenacre and the Fours are scheduled to be in action against Tanfield B.C. also at Goldenacre. Good luck, girls.
Last Friday afternoon, the Gents’ EBA Seniors’ Knockouts matches for our Singles, Pairs and Triples were unable to be played because of the weather conditions. These first-round matches will be rearranged for sometime this week but, at the time of writing, new dates/times for these ties have not been agreed. If our teams are successful, then next Friday, our Singles representative will take on either Summerside B.C. or Colinton B.C. at Queensberry while our Pairs will be in action against either London Road Foundry B.C. or Willowbrae B.C. at Maitland and our Triples will take on either Hillside B.C. or Gorgie Mills B.C. also at Maitland. All the best, guys. In addition, we are hosting 4 EBA Seniors’ Knockouts ties on the green on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday afternoon, we are hosting the Edinburgh Top Ten semi-final between Hillside B.C. and Carrickknowe B.C. Please try to get along to the Club to see some of the best bowlers in Edinburgh in action.
Finally, the annual Cathy Connet competition will be held at 2.00pm on Saturday 21 August. Please add your name to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Noticeboard if you want to take part in this very enjoyable afternoon. In addition, the annual Ladies vs Gents game is scheduled for Sunday 29 August. There are lists on both the Ladies’ and Gents’ Noticeboards if you wish to participate in this competition. Then, on the afternoon of Monday 30 August, the annual Ladies’ Page Two-Bowl Pairs competition will be held. Please add your name to the list on the Ladies’ Noticeboard if you want to be involved in this competition.
