Please read the attached document which details the bowling events involving our Club during the week beginning Monday 13 August.
Firstly, there are a few congratulations in order after events last week. Our Gents’ EBL Third Team have won Division 1 of their league. Well done, guys. In addition, our Gents’ EBL Second XVI were runners-up in their league and have been promoted to Division 1 for next season. Good stuff, boys. And last, but certainly not least, our Ladies’ Fours (Pat Reid, Joan McBain, Gladys Christie and Theresa Blair) won the Final of the Water of Leith Championships beating Juniper Green in a great match. Excellent, girls.
Bernie Callaghan won in the first round of the Tait Trophy in a VERY close encounter with Colinton B.C. last Friday at Sighthill and will now play Kevin Boyd (the Champion of Parkside B.C.) on Monday evening at 6.30pm at Currie. If successful, Bernie will then compete in the Quarter-Final at Craigentinny on Friday evening with (hopefully) the Semi-Final and Final on Sunday morning and afternoon at Parkside. All the best, Bernie.
Our Ladies kick off their EWBA Championships campaigns this week with all four disciplines in action on Monday afternoon and, if successful, will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon for the second rounds. All the best, girls.
In addition, the annual Cathy Connet Trophy competition will happen on Saturday 18 August at 2.00pm. There is still time to add your name to the list on the ‘Mixed’ Notice-board for this match and we’re sure a good time will be had by all.
The Draw for the Murdoch has now been made and will be on the Gents Notice-board shortly. The Singles Leagues are now on the Mixed Notice-board, please check your opponents and commence playing ASAP.
Finally, a reminder of some forthcoming matches in the Club.
1. The annual Ladies vs Gents game will be held on Thursday 23 August at 6.30pm. Please add your names to the lists on both the Ladies’ and Gents’ Notice-boards if you can participate.
2. The Ladies’ Page Two-Bowl Pairs competition takes place on Monday 27 August. Again, please add your names to the list if you can play.
3. The annual Sanderson Invitation Triples competition (Sponsored by Specsavers) will be held on Sunday 2 September on the green; there is a list for participants on the ‘Mixed’ Notice-board and the entry is limited to the first 24 triples.
4. The Seniors’ Friendly against Carrickknowe B.C. takes place at home on Friday 7 September at 2.00pm. We are looking for 6 rinks for this match. The list for players is on the Seniors’ Notice-board. This is always a very enjoyable afternoon.
