Firstly, big congratulations to Rebecca Rutherford who won the Bowls Scotland District Ladies’ Junior Singles last Saturday at Bainfield and will now represent the Club at the National Finals at Ayr in July. Well done, Rebecca.
The Ladies’ Captain’s Charity Pairs competition will take place on Sunday 16 June starting at 10.00am. We are sure everyone involved will have a great day.
On the Seniors’ front, three of our representatives in the ELBA competitions won last Friday and will now be in action next Friday afternoon. The Pairs will be at Sighthill, the Triples play at Postal and the Fours will be at Mayfield. All the best, guys.

Our Gents’ ELBA Pairs (Clint Cassidy and Mark Hewitt) will be in action against Brunstane B.C. at Trinity on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. Good luck, guys.
The final of the Bowls Scotland District Mixed Pairs will be held at Sighthill on Sunday 16 June at 6.00pm. Hopefully, our team (Pat Reid and Jimmy Sutherland) will be involved. If so, please try to get along to support them if you can.
We are hosting the semi-finals of the Bowls Scotland District Gents’ Junior Singles on Monday 10 June at 6.45pm and the other Gents’ competitions on Tuesday 11 June also at 6.45pm. Please come along to the Club to see some of the best bowlers in our District in action.
On Saturday 16 June, we will be competing in the EBL Charity Triples competition at Willowbrae starting at 9.45am. All the best to Ricky Stevens, John Greig and Andy Innes.

Firstly, we are hosting the Bowls Scotland Ladies’ Senior Singles Qualifiers on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June starting at 10.30am on both days. Our two representatives, Chris Bentley and Theresa Blair, play each other in the first round on Saturday morning and one will have (hopefully) another two games on Sunday to qualify for the semi-finals later in June. Good luck, girls. In addition, we have two teams in the Bowls Scotland Ladies’ Senior Fours at Sighthill on Saturday and Sunday. One rink will take on Currie B.C. at 10.30am while the other is in action against Carrickknowe B.C. at 2.00pm on the Saturday and, if successful, they will have games on the Sunday. Our Ladies are also involved in the semi-finals of their East of Scotland competitions with the Singles (Theresa Blair) and the Fours both at Juniper Green on Tuesday afternoon. Good luck, ladies.

In the ELBA Seniors’ competitions, the Singles (Jim Connor) will play Slateford B.C. at Braid, the Pairs take on Summerside B.C. at Juniper Green, the Triples will be in action against Blackhall B.C. at Whitehouse & Grange and the Fours will be at Brunstane all on Friday afternoon. Also, the annual Bob Horsham Cup will be contested on Friday 7 June. We are sure that a good day will be had by all.
Our representatives in the Gents’ Bowls Scotland Pairs, Triples and Fours continue their campaigns with matches at West End and two at Parkside on Tuesday evening at 6.45pm.
Our Gents’ ELBA Pairs were unable to play their tie last Thursday evening because of the weather and will now replay this match at Ardmillan on Monday evening at 7.00pm. If successful, they will then play at Liberton on Thursday evening. In addition, our Triples and Fours are in action at Juniper Green and Colinton respectively on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. Our team in the Bowls Scotland Mixed Pairs (Pat Reid and Jimmy Sutherland) have been given a ‘walkover’ in their tie scheduled for Sunday 2 June and will now play in the semi-final on our green at 6.00pm on Sunday 9 June. Please note that we are hosting an Aero Bowls ‘roadshow’ led by the world-famous Alex Marshall on Sunday 2 June at 1.00pm. Alex will have bowls and bowling accessories to try out on the day. In addition, one lucky winner of the raffle will be able to have a few ends against him in a wee ‘challenge’ match. Come along next Sunday and get a chance to meet our multiple-times World Champion. Family, friends and neighbours also very welcome!!

Please respect the morning start times, clearly laid out in in Tie Booking sheets, which are there for a number of operational reasons relating to work on the green and certain health & safety issues.

We are also hosting several ‘external’ ties on the green this week. We have three Seniors’ Bowls Scotland ties on Monday afternoon and four Gents’ Bowls Scotland games on Tuesday evening. Please try to get along to the Club on these occasions to see some very good ‘external’ players on the green.
Finally, a wee ‘heads-up’ on some upcoming competitions :
1. The Seniors have their annual Bob Horsham Trophy game at 2.00pm on Friday 7 June. There is a list on the Seniors’ Notice-board for those wishing to be involved.
2. The annual Gents’ Friendly with Carrickknowe B.C. will be held at 2.00pm on Saturday 15 June at home. We are looking for 6 rinks for this match. Please add your name to the list on the Gents’ Notice-board if you are available to play. This is always a very good afternoon.
3. We will be sending a team to the annual EBL Charity Triples competition to be held at Willowbrae B.C. on Saturday 15 June. If you would like to be involved on this day, please let Bernie Callaghan know. This is also a good day and a great opportunity to meet players from other Clubs. It is open to both Ladies and Gents.
