We have three representatives in the District semi-finals of the Ladies’ Bowls Scotland competitions on Saturday 23 June at Colinton. Chris Bentley will be taking on Merchiston B.C. in the Singles at 2.00pm; Jean Meiklejohn will be in action in the Senior Singles against Beechwood B.C. at 10.30am and the Senior Fours (Ellen Hay, Viv Pickard, Moyra Ferrier and Joan Mitchell) will play Balerno B.C. also at 10.30 am. If the girls are successful on Saturday, they will be participating in the District Finals being hosted on our green on Sunday 24 June (start times to be confirmed). Please try to get along to the Club to support the finalists in their quest to get to Ayr for the National Championships in July. All the best, ladies.
We also have Ladies in the semi-finals of all four disciplines in the East of Scotland District competitions. Our Singles is at Maitland and the Fours are at Juniper Green on Tuesday afternoon. Then, the Pairs and Triples are in action at Balerno and Beechwood respectively on Thursday afternoon. Good luck, girls. In addition, we are hosting three Water of Leith Championships ties on the green on Friday afternoon.
On the Seniors’ front, our ELBA Singles (Bobby Brown) is in action in the semi-final of his competition on Friday afternoon against Craigentinny B.C. at Braid. All the best, Bobby.
The first round of the EBL Edinburgh Cup will be held on Friday evening where we compete against Carrickknowe B.C. with 3 rinks at home and 3 rinks away. All the best, guys.
Our Mixed Rink (Rebecca Rutherford, Ellen Hay, Bernie Callaghan and David McNiven) take on Whitehouse & Grange B.C. at Gorgie Mills on Sunday 24 June at 6.30pm in the first round of their ELBA competition. Good luck, girls and boys.
Finally, a reminder of the annual Millar Cup competition which is taking place on the green on Sunday 1 July. There is still time to add your names to the list for Mixed Pairs wishing to participate for this trophy on the Mixed Notice-board.

On the Seniors’ front, Bobby Brown will be in action in the quarter-finals of the ELBA Singles at Wardie while our Triples (Kenny Orr, Richard Bryce and Tom Mitchell) take on Colinton B.C. at Dudley on Friday afternoon. Good luck, guys.
Our Gents’ ELBA Pairs (Jim Connor and Bernie Callaghan) take on Sighthill B.C. at Dudley while our Triples (Iain Ferrier, Sandy Macniven and Gordon Birnie) are in action against Maitland B.C. at Sighthill in their quarter-final ties on Thursday evening. All the best, boys.
On Saturday 16 June, we will be competing in the EBL Charity Triples competition at Willowbrae starting at 9.45am. All the best to Marcia, Iain and Jim.
There will be another Mixed Hat Night held at 6.30pm on Saturday. Please bring along friends and family for what is always an enjoyable evening.
We will be hosting the Ladies’ Bowls Scotland District Finals on the green at 1.30pm on Sunday 24 June. Please try to get along to see and support some of the best Lady bowlers in our District.

This week, our Ladies are involved in their East of Scotland competitions with the Singles taking on Bainfield B.C. at Gorgie Mills and the Fours in action against Balerno B.C. at Blackhall on Tuesday afternoon. Then, on Thursday afternoon, our Pairs and Triples will be in action against Sighthill B.C. and Gorgie Mills B.C. respectively both at Juniper Green. Good luck, ladies.
In addition, our Ladies’ Senior Singles and Senior Fours all begin their Bowls Scotland qualification campaigns at Sighthill and Balerno respectively on Saturday. If successful, they will all have further games on Sunday. All the best, girls.

All the best, Jim. In the ELBA competitions, the Singles (Bobby Brown) and Triples will be in action at Slateford B.C. and Colinton B.C. respectively both on Friday afternoon. Also, the annual Bob Horsham Cup will be contested on Friday 8 June. We are sure that a good day will be had by all.
Our representatives in the Bowls Scotland Fours continue their campaign with a match against Currie B.C. at Gorgie Mills on Tuesday evening at 6.45pm. In addition, our ELBA Pairs are in action at Carrickknowe while the Triples take on Dean B.C. at Mayfield in the next round on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. All the best, guys.
We are hosting several ‘external’ competitions on the green this week. We have 2 Ladies’ East of Scotland ties on Thursday afternoon; 2 Bowls Scotland Senior ties on Monday afternoon and 4 Gents’ Bowls Scotland matches on Tuesday evening. Please try to get along to the Club to see some of the best bowlers in Edinburgh in action.
We are also holding ‘Try Bowls’ sessions on the green on Saturday 9 June starting at Noon. Please bring your friends, family and neighbours to have a go at our sport – we are sure that they will enjoy the experience and we may get some new Club members as a result. In addition, we have another Mixed Hat Night at 6.30pm on that Saturday. An opportunity for friends and family to get involved.
Then, on Sunday 10 June, we are hosting the ELBA Under 25s against Midlothian B.A. at 2.00pm. The best young bowlers in Edinburgh will be on the green on Sunday; please try to get along to see them in action.
Finally, some reminders of up-coming events
1. The EBL Charity Triples competition takes place on Saturday 16 June at Willowbrae. We will be represented by Marcia and Iain Norton and Jim Connor. All the best, guys.
2. The Ladies’ Captain’s Charity Pairs tournament will be held on Sunday 17 June. There is a list for participants in this competition on the Ladies’ Notice-board. Please try to get involved in this very worth-while day.
3. We are hosting the Ladies’ Bowls Scotland District 15 Finals on Sunday 24 June at 2.00pm. This is an honour for the Club and we look forward to seeing some of the best bowlers in our District on the green.
4. The annual Mixed Pairs Millar Cup will take place on Sunday 1 July. There will be a list for Pairs to take part in this competition on the Mixed Notice-board later this week. Please add your names if you can participate.

Our Ladies take on Braid B.C. in the first round of the Bowls Scotland Triples at Parkside on Saturday afternoon and, if successful, will progress to the next round against Colinton B.C. also at Parkside on the Sunday morning. Good luck, girls.
Our Bowls Scotland Senior Singles representative (Jim Connor) will be involved in his next round tie on Monday afternoon at Whitehouse & Grange against West End B.C. All the best, Jim.
In addition, we have 2 representatives competing in the Edinburgh & Leith B.A. (ELBA) Seniors’ competitions next Friday afternoon at 2.00pm. The Singles (Bobby Brown) will be in action again Maitland B.C. at Blackhall and the Triples take on Whitehouse & Grange B.C. at Seafield. Please try to get along to support the players. Our Triples are in action against Liberton B.C. at Gorgie Mills and the Fours have a match against Pilrig B.C. at Tramways all on Thursday evening at 7.00pm. We are also scheduled to host 4 ELBA ties on the green on Thursday evening at 7.00pm and 4 ELBA Seniors’ ties on Friday afternoon at 2.00pm. Please try to get along to the Club to see some very good ‘external’ players in action.
A few reminders :
Firstly, the list for participants in the annual Bob Horsham Trophy (Friday 8 June) is on the Seniors’ Notice-board. Please add your name if you can take part.
Secondly, the ‘Try Bowls’ sessions have been arranged for Noon on Saturday 9 June. Please encourage your friends, family and neighbours to come along and have a go at our sport. We are sure that they will enjoy the experience.
And finally, the Club has been given the honour of hosting the ELBA Under 25’s match against Midlothian B.A. on Sunday 10 June at 2.00pm. The best young players (both male and female) in the City will be on show that afternoon. Please try to make time to come along to the Club to support these very gifted players. They are a key element of the future of our sport.
